Help the Amazon rainforest overcome funding shortfalls
Help the Amazon rainforest overcome funding shortfalls
Goal: $100,000 to safeguard the Amazon rainforest
project. However, recent federal funding changes have left the project nearly half a million dollars short for its next phase of initiatives. Indigenous peoples are the best defenders of the Amazon, with forests under their care removing a net 340 million tonnes of carbon dioxide per year. The benefits of rainforest protection extend far beyond where these activities take place and are critical in the fight against the climate crisis. Our partner, Rainforest Foundation US, supports Indigenous peoples in the Amazon and Central America to safeguard their rainforest homes. This work has been funded by the United States government, foundation grants, and donations from individuals—including Wren subscribers through our Tech-enabled rainforest protection project. However, recent federal funding changes have left the project nearly half a million dollars short for its next phase of initiatives.
Indigenous peoples are the best defenders of the Amazon, and forests under their care remove a net 340 million tonnes of carbon dioxide per year. The benefits of rainforest protection extend far beyond where these activities take place and are critical in the fight against the climate crisis.
Your donation will support the following activities in the Peruvian Amazon:
- Facilitating workshops with Indigenous leaders, rainforest monitors, government authorities, allies, and partners to address the threats facing the Amazon.
- Building a new data hub to enable eight communities to monitor 300K+ hectares of rainforest.
- Strengthening the existing network that supports 53 Indigenous communities.
Together, let’s raise $100K USD to help Rainforest Foundation US preserve life-saving forests.
